What happens during the screening?
The screening helps identify whether your child's reading profile is consistent with dyslexia or other reading difficulties. It is not a medical diagnosis, but it provides valuable information to determine whether structured literacy intervention may be beneficial and helps guide the best starting point for instruction.
Yes. The Barton Reading & Spelling System is an Orton-Gillingham influenced Structured Literacy program designed specifically for students with dyslexia. It uses explicit, sequential, multisensory instruction to build lasting reading and spelling skills.
Is Barton evidence-based?
Do you accept Insurance?
No. At this time, we do not accept health insurance. Dyslexia tutoring is generally considered an educational service rather than a medically covered service, so it is typically not reimbursed by insurance plans.
We currently only accept Cash pay and ESA funding.
Yes! The Dyslexic Way is an Arizona ESA-approved provider. Families using ESA funds are responsible for submitting and monitoring payment requests according to current ESA guidelines, and invoices and receipts are provided as needed.

Why do students attend twice a week?
The Barton Reading & Spelling System is designed to build reading and spelling skills through consistent, structured practice. Meeting twice each week helps students retain new concepts, make steady progress, and develop the automaticity needed for long-term success.
How long will my child need tutoring?
Every child is different. The length of tutoring depends on your child's current reading skills, age, learning profile, consistency of attendance, and individual goals. Because Barton is mastery-based, students move forward only after demonstrating confidence with each lesson. It could last 18 months and up.
